Yay Cosplay

I loved attending this year's Emerald City Comic Con. I went in with super high-energy and gushed to everyone I could about how great their cosplays were. I was especially pleased with how my kiddo took so well to the fame and adoration he received from his video game cosplay. Second day, bought a bunch of artwork that I'm looking forward to hanging up. Yay fun times!

My tricorder is a 3D print that slid over my cell phone, giving me access to my phone, but also allowed the flashlight to illuminate the display of the tricorder. I thought it was kinda neat.

Playing Mermaid in Snow

When the local pond is frozen over, read a book instead! lol snow, yay playing mermaids!

Today, it wasn’t DNS, it was DHCP and me being too quick on plugging back in the device when pings timed out. Had I waited another five seconds, I’da seen the other device start responding. Grrr.

Porta-Mermaid

I had an opportunity to spend a whole long evening as a mermaid, hanging with a diverse group of weirdos, outside in the drizzle, pretending to be extroverted. My real fear was being mermaid-mode for so long, knowing that my normal silicone fluke can lead to foot cramps after an hour, so I made a dry-fluke out of thick EVA foam.

My silicone fluke, a Mertailor Three, weighs like 25 pounds, but the EVA foam cut-out is like just one, which met my requirements for being super easy to flip my fins all night long.

I used hot glue to attach a second layer that I figured would help stability, provide a thickness for my ankles, and give my toes something to push against as a lever to better flip the fin.

Using EVA Foam as the fluke worked nicely: I was able to focus on playing chatty with the other attendees and just put "flipping my fin" into a background process, since a little flexing of my toes was enough to make a big tail wave. The light-weight fluke allowed me to express myself easily when I wanted to convey mermaid excitement and whip my tail around joyfully.

I think I'd like to try and reduce how much my heels kinda fell through the EVA foam foot-holes, like hot-glue straps on the bottom, so I won't have to rely upon the fabric of the tail skin to keep tension.

Best day of the year, yay Halloween!

Celebrated the casino’s entertainment venue award win with a buncha my fave bands and buds, like Radio 80, Monster Road, Rumor 6, and Harmonious Funk. Yay gigs!

Just do something with that stuff

Slapped an ancient LoL Shield onto an old Arduino, printed a diffuser, smashed into a funky old photo frame, and now it plays Conway’s Game of Life forever. Yay, did something with all the stuff in my parts buckets!

Hax

Packeted the network with four multicast UDP streams of television content, and got ‘em to show up in netcat and ffmpeg. Pretty fun!

Electronics are weird

After replacing this fuse a compile times, I’ve given up and now this lighting fixture is a smoke machine.

I am the mermaid, the mermaid is me

The pirate shirt is far more the costume than the tail, the mermaid half is so natural and fun.

First Post!

I miss LiveJournal, LittleLogs, and Twitter. So this is my attempt to do dumb web logs, status updates, and achievements.

I like being a mermaid, playing Overwatch, and computars.
